Our Story

Frozen Farms Co began the way many good things do: at home, with family. Nathan and Jean McParlan started raising beef cattle simply to feed their own family and make thoughtful use of the land surrounding their home in Michigan’s Copper Country. What began as a practical choice soon became a passion. With room to grow and a deep respect for the land, they slowly expanded, starting with bees, fruit trees, and gardens, then animals, learning as they went and building something rooted in care and intention.

As the farm grew, so did the McParlan children, who became part of the process by raising and showing livestock at the county fair. Farming became a family effort and a way of life, not just a source of food. Over time, raising animals for their own table naturally turned into raising animals for their community, and the idea of sharing their farm-raised products with others began to take shape.

Frozen Farms Co was created in 2021 as a way to bring those products directly to customers through a local market. The market allows the McParlans to sell meat raised primarily on their own family farm, St John's Creek Farm, alongside products from other trusted local producers who share their values. It also gave Jean the opportunity to fulfill a longtime dream of owning a kitchen and home store. She curates each item thoughtfully, choosing tools, textiles, and pantry goods she uses in her own home — with a focus on sustainable products that last and make everyday life a little easier, more beautiful, or both.

Today, Frozen Farms Co reflects the balance of its founders: Nathan’s commitment to land, animals, and farming well, and Jean’s love of the kitchen, the home, and sharing things that truly work. It’s a market built from the ground up, shaped by family, fueled by care, and rooted in the belief that good food and good tools bring people together.
