Frequently Asked Questions

How long will meat keep in the freezer?

Our meat products are vacuum sealed, which does a vastly better job of keeping oxygen (the enemy of freshness) out of food than traditional paper wrapping. This means we expect our meat to suffer no quality loss for at least 18-24 months in the freezer. For more information about vacuum sealing you can read on at FoodSaver

How do you cook your hotdogs?

Frozen Farms Co all beef hotdogs are precooked but should be cooked prior to to consuming. USDA guidelines recommend hotdogs be cooked to 165 degrees Farenheit. Our favorite cooking options; throw them on the grill until they are blistered and smoky OR pan fry for an easier inside the house option.

How should I thaw frozen meat?

The best way to thaw meat is to plan ahead and thaw meat in your refrigerator (we recommend in a dish with an edge to catch any moisture). Give yourself 12-24 hrs for a pound of ground meat  and up to 24hrs for every 5lbs of larger items like roasts.

The USDA recommends thawing in the fridge, thawing in cold water changed every 30 minutes or thawing in the microwave (AT HALF POWER) followed by immediate cooking. You can read about why these are considered the safest options for thawing meat at the USDA's article The Big Thaw .
